2014
Hennessey Corvette Stingray Z51 3LT HPE600 #001
FOR
SALE |
As
tested at first delivery: So, John Hennessey, with the backing of Shell and Penzoil, is going for 311 mph this year - Yes, a convtroversial person who has had some bad PR in years past. |
The
Net "says": "Delivery
of 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe to dealers began on September 18,
2013. Production of the Stingray Convertible began at the end of
2013." |
Hennessey initially offered the car, upgraded
as his first natuarlly aspirated HPE600 on eBay at
9:48am, November 23, 2013 for $109,500. A stock 460 hp/460 lb/ft torque
to 633/535 with
camshaft, cylinder head, cat converter upgrades, along with long tube
headers, this was built the old hot rod way. |
Not
on eBay, but sold it to
the original buyer from Lake Worth FL on December 3d 2013 w/Performance
information from
their
own track in Sealy, Texas with a 3 year/36K warranty for $105,000. |
EIGHT days AFTER he sold the car, on December
13th 2013, the YouTube video went online to 5,695,845 views (as of 5:00 pm, 2/2/19), to reveal
that on the 11th - 8 days after he sold it - he had PERFECTLY hit 200.6
mph in a C7, while going under a traffic camera, but you know the
story. |
I
was told by Ashley at
Hennessey that it was the "Toll
Road" car John drove, HPE600 #001. |
So,
after selling the car before doing his 5M vid, things seemed normal......Then
it gets weird. It
was offered through
Mecum Auctions in Harrisburg, PA (?) July 21-23, 2016 - went unsold
for $65,000 - of course,
who would accept a 39% loss on a 3 1/2 year investment! |
Then, it's
reported
to the National
Insurance Crime Bureau on
Sep 12, 2016;
reported as TOTAL
LOSS the same
day, then Sep 26, 2016 -
2 weeks to the day - reported as Theft
Recovery ....hummm... |
Then, the
Insurance Carrier paid the original owner, then
sold at Auction
at Copart Auction. |
Photos
reveal, and Nick
@ Miami
Motors, who I purchased the car from September 20th 2017, confirmed
that:
a. Missing from the car: $1200 Hennessey wheels w/tires and both roofs; b. Damage to front bumper and several panels which Nick replaced ALL these items and then some. I even found a damage photo from Google Images |
He bought it at the auction the last week
of October 2016, then this stuff happened:
January 14th 2017 - Nick showing YouTube of car - Take a drive; January 20th 2017 - For Sale on You Tube - Initial $64,850 offer - I suspect he took a loss when I bought it |
I saw
it on September 27th 2017 on eBay.
Nick wanted 2K more on his website,
but I called and told him I'd give him the eBay price and he would ship
it to me on his dime
- he agreed. He sent more information the
next day. |
You'll see many photos of the car and a few
recent ones as well. |
KBB
value of car alone is $48,500/Comparable
is '15 Z06 (None built in '14, also 600+Hp
WITHOUT Z06 Supercharger) |
Finally,
just for fun, a trip around the block |
